A method and apparatus are described for recovering gold from aqueous slurries of refractory gold ores containing sulfidic and/or carbonaceous matter. The method entails pretreating an ore slurry with chlorine in a multicompartment autoclave operated at an elevated pressure. The chlorine used in this pressure chlorination pretreatment can be in either the gaseous or liquid state.

Jan 01, 2011· Pretreatment of refractory ores/concentrates prior to cyanide leaching is therefore required to render the contained gold and silver readily amenable to extraction.

The later development of flotation for gold ores, has, in most cases, provided a satisfactory pretreatment and has been applied in several ways. Flotation removes most of the freed carbon with the concentrate, which is then roasted prior to cyanidation or shipped to a smelter.

Pretreatment Process on Refractory Gold Ores with As449 Кб. KEY WORDS: arsenicbearing gold ore; pretreatment process; refractory gold show that, in the world, about 2/3 gold resource belongs to the difficult processing ores, and about 1/3 total output of world gold is produced from refractory gold.

Chemistry Abstract Double refractory gold ores, such as Barrick''s Goldstrike ore, contain both pyrite and carbonaceous matter and the latter results in the loss of gold from solution during cyanide leaching. One possible remedy is to roast the ore and thus oxidize the pyrite and remove the organic carbon.

In order to recover the precious metals contained in refractory ores it is necessary to modify the matrix of the ore by an oxidative pretreatment to expose the metals to cyanide.

For the refractory gold–silver ores associated with manganese minerals, this study has developed a reductive sulfating leaching pretreatment process to dissolve manganese minerals before gold–silver cyanidation, and pyrite has been proved that could be used .

Nitric acid is a strong oxidant capable of rapidly oxidizing sulphide minerals. This study was undertaken to evaluate the nitric acid leaching as a potential pretreatment process prior to...

Refractory Gold Pretreatment pH Mining: Gold Processing Refractory gold ores are defi ned as containing minerals or carbon compounds that trap encapsulated gold and make leaching extraction diffi cult. These types of ores require pretreatment prior to cyanidation. Options for pretreatment include the following processes: • Roasting

Sep 07, 2017· Hydrogen peroxide pretreatment of gold ore before leaching ... acid and about 1/6th hydrogen peroxide pretreatment works real well in certain ores. .

These refractory ores require pretreatment in order for cyanidation to be effective in recovery of the gold. A refractory ore generally contains sulfide minerals, organic carbon, or both. Sulfide minerals are impermeable minerals that occlude gold particles, making it difficult for the leach solution to form a complex with the gold.

Refractory gold ores require either or both physical and chemical pretreatment, prior to cyanidation. The proportion of known refractory gold resources relative to overall gold resources, is increasing year on year throughout the world.

A refractory pyrite/arsenopyrite ore containing g/ton of gold finely disseminated in the sulphide matrix was subjected to microbial leaching in a heap containing 120 tons of ore crushed to minus 15 mm. The ore was initially leached by means of acidophilic chemolithotrophic bacteria to oxidize the sulphide minerals and to liberate the gold.

leaching of refractory ores results in incomplete gold recoveries, as a solution, a pretreatment process should be implemented. Various pretreatment, methods includes roasting, bio oxidation, highpressure cyanide leaching and pressure oxidation. With the development of new ozone generators, that

of the leach residues resulted in 90 to 93 pct Au and 60 to 80 pct Ag extractions, compared with only 5 and 15 pct, respectively, without the pretreatment. The procedure was further tested by leaching a lowgrade gold ore and a bulk sulfide flotation concentrate prepared from it. Cyanidation of the leach

In addition, the host mineral proves impervious to cyanide leaching, which prevents gold extraction. Refractory gold deposits are metallurgically complex and are therefore often difficult and expensive to develop and operate. Refractory gold ores require either or both physical and chemical pretreatment, prior to cyanidation.

leaching circuits, even when the ore is finely ground. The cause of low gold recoveries can be either through the presence of naturally occurring ''preg robbing'' carbonaceous materials or gold physically ''locked'' in sulphide minerals. The majority of gold ores are classified refractory because the gold mineralogy is contained in sulphides.

Refractory gold ores have increasingly been the main source of gold production with the exhaustion of amenable gold ores. Of the 2630 tons of total world gold production in 2011, about 25% was produced from refractory gold deposits, and of the top 20 gold operations in 2011, eight were processing refractory ores [].Commonly, relatively high content of detrimental impurities like S (sulfur), As ...

mineralogy of ores being encountered in which gold is locked up in various sulphidic host minerals. Gold ores are classified as highly refractory when at least 80% of the gold cannot be extracted by conventional cyanidation leaching even after fine grinding. A very common cause of refractoriness is the dissemination of fine grained or

reach it in cyanide leaching process. 2) The gold ores with As must be broken or decomposed in the gold particles scales, so that gold is fully exposed, and then extracted with the appropriate gold leaching agent. The process of crushing or decomposition before gold leaching is called pretreatment of refractory gold.
